A new vacation home on the Sonoma Coast in Sea Ranch. Situated near the dramatic bluffs and beaches of Sea Ranch, the new home incorporates the natural characteristics of the site, orientating towards views and designed for privacy and wind protection. Simple angular volumes with strategic window locations create massing in harmony with the modern vernacular of the Sea Ranch style. Cedar wood siding will age gray and take on the rugged characteristics of the site. The home is designed as a passive house with close to net zero energy usage, relying on highly efficient glazing, specialized insulation, heat pumps, air filtration, septic and solar panel systems. The project was completely modeled on computer to assist in the required complex coordination, part of which was successfully coordinating with the Sea Ranch design review board. The interiors are to be completed in the next phase.
