New Wine Country Home

A new home on a 15 acre vineyard in the Dry Creek Valley of Healdsburg. Nestled amongst fertile vines and along a riparian corridor, the house takes advantage of 360 degree vineyard and hillside views, forming an outdoor pool courtyard in juxtaposition with an existing farmhouse and barn. Large windows orientate and capture the views of the surrounding vineyards and hills, accentuated with long, deep overhangs to provide ample shade. Two long perpendicular roof planes delineate the vectorial massing, separating the house into private and public halves. Incorporating modern forms with vernacular materials mimics the sloping landscape and ties the structure to the history of the site. Multiple exterior materials delineate the volumes and distinguish the massing. The interior spaces flow between open zones with changing views thought the house, capturing the shifting sunlight throughout the day. The site incorporates numerous green strategies including a solar array, gravity well, and septic systems. The project was completely modeled in 3D on computer to assist in the required complex coordination.
