A new 5,000 sf house set high in the mountains overlooking Reno, Nevada and the surrounding Sierra Nevada Mountains. Designed for an outdoor orientated family, rustic details and use of heavy timbers give the feeling of living in a mountain lodge. The design orientation was situated to take advantage of views up toward Mt Rose as well as the expansive Wahoe Valley below. High seasonal snow loads and local zoning ordinances required complex structural coordination along with a complicated local approval process. Existing site boulders were integrated into the landscape design.
